Be honest now. You have a mean older sister and she thinks she is over weight?

Soon enough she will move out and you can have her room all to yourself

Anyone know a DVD player which has option to view video in mirror aspect ie back to front?

To clarify; I am trying to learn a choreography from a didactic dance video but the dance is taught face on.However, it is easier to follow copy movements when you are directly behind the instructor - this way it is less confusing to know which left and right limb should be moved - when the instructor faces you you have to conciously decide which body side %26amp; direstion is which.

Is there DVD player software that has the option to view film %26quot;in mirror%26quot;, as still graphic/photo editor programmes have?

I woud be so grateful for any suggestions as I have only 2 weeks to prepare this dance!!!

Does anyone know the names of the mask under quest field? they're hanging in the walls near the ceiling. Seatl

its in seattle near the ticket entrences in quest field. The masks are metal and some are yellow and some grey.

Do you know some one who's an "art director?"?

What degrees do you need to be an Advertising art director?!?!? well in order to get a good position, what degree would help me the most???

Help please! some one that know about this and about how much their salary is for a person that is just new in the field...?
Do you know some one who%26#039;s an %26quot;art director?%26quot;?
yeah my brother
Do you know some one who%26#039;s an %26quot;art director?%26quot;?
In my experience, an AD is something that you work up to. Start out as a productuion artist, move to graphic designer, senior designers, then art director or creative director. Its sort of a managerial position, so its not likely you get to be that right out of school.

Now, you can be an AD by project... that just means your in charge. Like at a photo shoot or something.

Education would be something in Visual Arts. I have a Bachelor%26#039;s of Fine Arts majoring in Graphic Design with minors in Drawing and Communications Media. To be an AD, I%26#039;d have to earn it with work experience or get my Master%26#039;s Degree (MFA).
Reply:Nothing to do with degrees. I am an art director and experience will outweigh your diplomas. A good eye, creativity, imagination, sense of color is what I look for.

Even if the pics are black and white, I will base my criterias on that and I don%26#039; t need any diplomas to choose who to hire.

Graphic Artist / Designer range from 500 to 1500 weekly and even $2000 weekly.

Would you watch this video?

Helpp! Photoshop 7.0 question. I have a pic of a rose I drew & colored & I want it in outline (b&w) for a shir

Okay so I drew and colored in a red rose with a green stem. And I wanted to take out the colors (green and red) so that it%26#039;s a black and white drawing. The thing is, I drew the rose kinda realistic so it%26#039;s not soooo outlined with black as it is kinda shaded with a darker red. So basically i want it to look like a coloring book drawing (where it%26#039;s the shape and you just color the design in.

Soooo this is what i need help on in my Photoshop 7.0

I know how to take out the color (red and green), but I need to outline the rose, stem, and the three red petals designs. I don%26#039;t know much about layering so I need help with that. The goal is so that I can print the design on my t-shirt.

Any help is greatly appreciated (. If the above is confusing basically it%26#039;s working backwards with a drawing. I have the finished product and I need to take out the color while retaining the look of a rose.)

thannnnkkkkssss
Helpp! Photoshop 7.0 question. I have a pic of a rose I drew %26amp; colored %26amp; I want it in outline (b%26amp;w) for a shir
Well... the cleanest way to do it is to trace the outline with a path. You%26#039;ll have to use bezier curves and points. Tricky, but once you learn it - its a very useful skill. After you have the path the way you like it, you can stroke the path with black on a new layer or a cleared background to make your illustration.

Or ... you can export the path to Adobe Illustrator and play with it there.

Hi,

You may try to advertise on newspapers, art mags and some blogs.

Of course that the price of the advertisement will depend upon the number of readers.

You should also have a website (if you don%26#039;t have one) and provide a phone number.

Building a trustful name is very difficult, namely because of the amount of scams going on.

How to make play-do?
I used to play with a fun recipe - but it dries very hard.

You mix one Tablespoon of Elmer%26#039;s white glue (white school glue) with one slice of white bread (no crust). Knead it until its no longer sticky (that takes a while and a bit of patience).

Its a fun recipe for kids and you can tint the dough with food dye.

well it depends on what your style is

are you doing portraiture?

Abstract?

Landscapes?

then again to look professional you have to be a good photographer

Just because you buy the really expensive camera and the really cutting edge lens with the number 1 voted editing software does not make you a good photographer

In order to be professional you have to do as much to make your pictures look professional while taking them and do as little to edit them.

resize/crop it your self in paint or MS Picture IT (those are free options)
Reply:K%26#039;, use elements which is real low now or corel painshop only 99. The truth is theres no such thing as a good ( professional), free image program, so...either buy it or settle for no good shot.

Photographing Moonbow at Cumberland Falls State Park (near Corbin, KY)?

I%26#039;m planning to go during one of the full moons this fall or winter to photograph the moonbow at Cumberland Falls State Park near Corbin, KY. From the technical aspect, I think I know what I%26#039;m doing, though I%26#039;ve never photographed a moonbow before. I%26#039;m not familiar with that park and with gas prices the way they are, I%26#039;d like to do as much beforehand research as possible. What are the composition options? Is there an overlook that you just drive to or does the best view require hiking? If so, how much elevation gain/loss over distance and what is the trail like?

Best answer will go to the best first-hand experience or best link to a website that I haven%26#039;t already seen about this moonbow.
Photographing Moonbow at Cumberland Falls State Park (near Corbin, KY)?
That is very cool.

If you are using digital just keep experimenting with exposure until you get a histogram that you like.

Be sure to bring a tripod and some sort of shutter release.

The rangers at Cumberland Falls State Park recommend ISO 400, an aperture of F4 and a timed exposure of 4 - 8 minutes.

I disagree, for maximum sharpness I would start at F/8 and use a lower ISO for less noise. Vary exposure time until you are satisfied with the image.

I don%26#039;t remember much about the trail. But keep in mind that it will be fairly dark and slippery around the falls. There is a barrier but it is always dangerous to be around moving water. Be safe.

In addition to your digital, you might consider investing in a decent quality TLR for some of your shots. Prints of the moonbow from medium format film look especially nice. You can use your digital to find the proper exposure. (After the shoot you can probably sell the TLR for what you paid for it.)

Have fun....

How do you make direct decals on metal/plastic plated objects?

Like if I had a design (or skin) that I wanted on a plastic/or metal box, how would I do it? You know, kind of like how they make a game system with a (from what it looks) spray painted decoration of a favorite character or something.
How do you make direct decals on metal/plastic plated objects?
what%26#039;s wrong with spray paint? You have to make a mask, just a piece of paper or cardboard. It needs to have all the parts you want to show cut out (which will put some limits on your design). Then spraypaint. The mask will make sure paint goes onto the metal only where you want it. Practice on cardboard before. Make sure the spraypaint is good for use on metal, but most should be.

How do I draw something disturbingly scary?

I%26#039;m very keen to wonder how artists like HR Giger manage to create that distinctive disturbing image. What makes their works so disturbing? What kind of drawing style?
How do I draw something disturbingly scary?
Make your drawing more about the drawing looking at the viewer; not the reverse.

Hope that makes sense...

Reply:use a pencil
Reply:Just remember that the scariest thing isn%26#039;t what you see, it%26#039;s what you don%26#039;t see. Unless you are good with proportions and the elements of art, stick with a %26quot;dark and vague%26quot; concept, otherwise your drawings will look silly, not scary. A dark corridor, a shadowy figure in a mirror, or a hand reaching out from a dark space are all disturbingly scary images and are relatively easy to convey, even for a begining artist.
Reply:Have you checked out the dumpsters behind the %26quot;Shifting Shadows Institute%26quot;

Some of the inmates often toss out drawn pictures that may attract creatures from the Dark Side
Reply:sharp lines, not so curved and detailed. jagged, rough lines and a sketchy look makes things look more frightening. also, avoid human faces, if it%26#039;s going to be human then use just a human outline and only eyes showing or teeth. and as for not being able to portray your image, it takes a lot of practice. Concentrate on what you want your picture to look like, every detail, make your hand listen.

I thought it was an interesting idea for the photo, but that it was too washed out. To me it looks like it%26#039;s already been %26#039;edited%26#039; because the wash out is so uneven.

I would edit it, and burn in the eyes more. Darken it up, and then repost it here. :)

Or do a re-take of the same photo in a different element.

What tips can you give me for taking exposure landscaps and seascaps images?
Use a tri-pod set the apature to a high f stop to get better depth of field. focus in the mid range and if the water is moving have a 2 second exposure to gain a pleasing milky effect.
What tips can you give me for taking exposure landscaps and seascaps images?
Open your aperture as much as possible, get a nice fast shutter speed, 200 ISO. OR you can do HDR or your camera may call it bracketing, you can do it yourself or set it up in camera, take one over exposed (bright) picture, one perfectly exposed, then an under exposed (dark picture). Then put them in your computer and use Photoshop or something similar and over lay them on top of each other (make sure they are layers before the overlay and make them a little transparent). This way you get even detail and lighting in the trees, waves, etc.

Nope, you will not have to be good at drawing in order to make good web designs. It helps with composition and all, but you can learn that other way than drawing and painting ;)

when it comes to graphic designs, painting helps a lot, but usually you just need to be really good with programmes such as Photoshop etc - but you%26#039;re prolly gonna learn that on your course :)

Can anyone give me a name of a place that does body implants?
There are relatively few piercers who regularly do implants, but quite a bit of information can be found through the BME (Body Modification E-Zine) page %26amp; its Wiki. Another topic to search for is %26#039;subdermal implant.%26#039;

To answer your question directly, though, most implants are built of Teflon or another flexible material that in slid into a %26#039;pocket%26#039; cut under the skin. Some other piercers use metal, coral, bone or a biodegradable bone-scaffold to create the shape of the implant. They are roughly as prone to rejection as other surface piercings; if not performed with sterile equipment and properly healed they are also likely to become infected.

Painting ideas: Spreading my wings?

I%26#039;ve been going through a lot of stress this past year with my family. I%26#039;m moving away for school in a few weeks and I want to paint a picture for my parents to kind of remind them that I need to spread my wings.

My dad%26#039;s worried about my mental/ emotional stability and doesnt want me to leave- he doesnt seem to understand that the majority of the stress I%26#039;m feeling is comming from being here.

Before i leave, like i said I want to paint them a picture to say I%26#039;m sorry for the harsh words we had exchanged in the past but I dont know what that should be.

once again what I want to get across in the painting:

Spreading my wings and being ok if not better in doing so.

-as for the sorry part I%26#039;ll just write a note or card or something.

things Id like to incorporate: maybe some wings? Definetly sunshine (because they need some light in their lives!)... happyness...and being at peace

look forward to hearing the ideas :)

The universal symbol for peace is the dove, which would go really well with both your peace offering and spreading your wings~

3d animation program?

hello

I am trying to decide on a 3D animation program that i can make humans move, high quality animation, like movies. I%26#039;ve looked at Daz studio and their mimic, and im not sure what i should buy because I don%26#039;t know if they make just pictures or i can actually make my characters move around in a world. Any help is greatly appreciated, any recomendations?
3d animation program?
I recommend 3d Studio Max. You can make humans, animals, anything you can think of move around and animate. From cartoony Pixar-like animation to highly photo-realistic animation.

Out of all the high-end 3d animation software available, I feel it is the easiest learning curve.

The price is also very reasonable. It also has a free learning edition I believe, so you could try it out before you make a purchase.

I like photography. I want my own free webpage to display the pix but where can i do that?

I like photography. I want my own free webpage to display the pix but where can i do that?

I like photography. I want my own free webpage to display the pix but where can i do that?
I have a site but I pay around $9 a month through Yahoo. You could get a free blog website from many places such as google. I tried that first and found it annoying to upload pictures and would rather pay. But if you have the time thats one way you can do that for free

https://www.google.com/accounts/NewAccou...
Reply:May I recommend fotothing.com ? It%26#039;s basically a British photo blog, but it tends to have a higher quality of photograph than Flickr. Some of the users are professionals, but most are amateurs. %26quot;Pro%26quot; status on fotothing comes from paying a small annual fee.

I tend to use Flickr for snapshots of friends and pets, but I use fotothing for my more %26quot;artistic%26quot; work. It%26#039;s a very international site, and you get comments from all over the world. If you asked for constructive criticism, you would probably get it, but the culture of the site discourages negative comments.

If you have a free account, you can post five photos a day, but there is no limit for the total photos you display. On flickr, you can post more photos in a single day, but you have a 200 photo limit on a free account.

Of consideration for high school students, flickr may be blocked at school, but fotothing usually isn%26#039;t, due to lower traffic in the US.
Reply:I really like flickr. It is easy to upload, organize and link your photos to other sites (like your photo blog).

Plus, you use your yahoo username to log in, so you%26#039;re already half-way there!

How can paint artists(painters)be useful for their society?

as u know( and maybe don%26#039;t know!) art has a high impression on the people.it just depends on%26quot; how to use it.%26quot;

music and writing are in the top. they were sometimes the pioneers of defiances.but painting...

painting is going to be the simple of wealth. we don%26#039;t have anyone like %26quot;pablo neruda %26quot; or %26quot;the beatles %26quot; in painting.painters don%26#039;t have done anything really usefull.

and now%26quot; I%26#039;m a painter.I want to be usefull. how can I do it with painting????
How can paint artists(painters)be useful for their society?
They can get a real job, lol.
How can paint artists(painters)be useful for their society?
Oh wow. Seriously? You%26#039;re a painter and you think painters haven%26#039;t done anything useful?

TAKE AN ART HISTORY CLASS, PLEASE. I can%26#039;t even answer this question. You%26#039;re insulting yourself.
Reply:It is really sad that you feel that way. You must not have studied art very much as Sweety stated above. I can%26#039;t begin to touch on the amazing things artist%26#039;s have done for society and how many changed the way we will look at the world. A few: DaVinci, Picasso, Kahlo, Diego Rivera, Pollock, Warhol...you may not like all of their art, but that really doesn%26#039;t matter. They are a part of history, how can you possibly state that painting is not useful??? I commend you for wanting to make art that matters, but I believe you must take a closer look at art and begin reading between the lines. A painting isn%26#039;t as self explanatory as a song...you have to think.
Reply:Velasquez. Velasquez changed painting...changed how others viewed painting and art and had a great impact on post modern thought and even philosophy.

Painting may not seem important to the everyday person because most of it is not completely accessible to the everyday person...some find that elitist or sad or whatever, but it is usually true. Some art, and paintings particularly, have become just status symbols but there are artists who make tremendous differences in people%26#039;s lives. It might not be the masses who can get a Beatles cd at any store, but believe me painters can be quite useful to those who are willing to go to galleries or museums and look.

In one of my classes we were talking about how our school had a banner that read %26quot;What starts here changes the world%26quot; around that banner were math equations, beakers, test tubes, and stock quotes...obviously art was not represented. When asking if we really are doing anything as pertinent as saving lives or finding cures, one student replied %26quot;What good is saving lives when there is nothing to live for%26quot; It might sound pretty ridiculous, but in essence that is true... the arts (painting included) are humanity%26#039;s link to something explainable only through the visual or auditory, and that is a gift worth analyzing, interpreting, talking about, and for some...worth living for. Painting, photography, drawing, sculpture, etc all play a part in history and all contribute to the culture and ideology around it, which in turn makes artists quite valuable.

If you want to be useful in the common sense then don%26#039;t be a painter...you won%26#039;t save lives or build homes, you won%26#039;t always feel that you%26#039;re %26quot;helping%26quot; anyone...but once in a while, somebody looks at what you%26#039;re doing and sees more than the visual...once in a great while they see what you%26#039;re trying to say and they are moved by it...that is worth it for me..but not for everyone.

Is there a way to view archived MSNBC Week in Pictures as thumbnails? I'm searching for one in particular...

Awhile back, I can%26#039;t remember if it was 2005, 2006 or 2007, there was a picture I%26#039;d like to find. It was a picture at a Canadian Soldiers funeral who died in the Iraq war. The picture was a picture of his ex-wife and their 5 or 6 year old daughter crying (I remember the girl had platinum blond hair). The mother is crying, but you can see almost unbearable pain on the little girl%26#039;s face as she sobs.

Truly heart wrenching. I%26#039;d like to find the picture again, but it takes WAY too long to load each and every picture just to go %26quot;Not it, next picture.%26quot;

Is there a way to search the Week-In-Pictures or is there a website that has them as thumbnails so I can load them faster?

Thanks in advance.

Can you use normal SLR lenses with a digital camera?

I have a film Minolta Dynax SLR. I would like to upgrade to digital, but I have some great lenses that it would be a shame not to be able to use any more.

If I buy a Sony digital SLR body can I use normal lenses with it?

Thanks.
Can you use normal SLR lenses with a digital camera?
You certainly can, and they will work just as well with the digital body. The difference is in the grind of the actuall lenses. Most digital cameras do not use the full image that a lens projects onto a camera. Therefor te edges on the %26quot;digital lenses are not as clear as they would be on a %26quot;film%26quot; lens. You will have no problem with using these lenses as long as they are compatable. Have fun!
Can you use normal SLR lenses with a digital camera?
It depends, I would imagine that sony will have their own type of lens fitting. If they have the same fitting they will work, but the quality of the picture will be slightly reduced - especially if using auto-focus.
Reply:Only Sony digi lenses fit this camera. Minolta Dynax lenses only fit the Dynax range, afaik they dont fit any any other camera. You%26#039;ll have to buy new lenses for the Sony.
Reply:You may also find that the focal length of the lenses seem to be different. This is because the CCD may not be the same size as the old 24X36mm negative on film.
Reply:When Minolta introduced the Maxxum 7000 Auto Focus camera in 1985 they changed their lens mount. That mount, the A-mount, remains in use today on all current Sony DSLR cameras - A100/200/300/350/700.

The lenses you%26#039;ve used on your Minolta Dynax will work just fine on a Sony DSLR. One advantage you%26#039;ll gain is this: since the image circle for a 35mm film camera is much larger than the sensor on the A300, you%26#039;ll only be using, in effect, the %26quot;sweet spot%26quot; of the lens.
Reply:I used Minolta kit for many years and now have a Sony. I can tell you that Minolta lenses DO fit Sony cameras and work as well as they ever did. The only thing to bear in mind is the magnification factor, caused by the difference between the size of the 35mm film area and that of the Sony sensor - x1.5. In practice this means that a lens marked as, for example, 50mm has the coverage, on the Sony, of a 75mm lens.

Don%26#039;t forget, though, that while the coverage of a lens is magnified all the other characteristics of the lens stay the same.

So, when you use the 18-70mm kit lens, at the 18mm end you get the coverage of 18 x 1.5 = 27mm , you still get the distortion of an 18mm lens. It%26#039;s bearable, but be aware of it.

The best of luck, whatever you decide.

Which Picture Is Better??

thnxx :)
Which Picture Is Better??
the second one, when you look away form the camera you look tired and your eyes look bloodshot. But when u look at the camera you can really see the pretty blue color of your eyes. :)

Reply:I think the first one is better. And I think your breasts are fine too.

(it%26#039;s a compliment, don%26#039;t misunderstand. ok?)

-_-
Reply:I don%26#039;t know what you mean by better. I don%26#039;t know photography. I%26#039;d say the more interesting is the second, though. If you photoshopped the freckles on your nose, they wouldn%26#039;t be distracting your wonderful eyes.
Reply:i think pic number 1 why u may ask

it looks natural as if daydreaming or in thoughts

number 2and3 pics they ok but the 1st pic shows better

catch of being in love or wanting something
Reply:Noooooooooo! No! Don%26#039;t photoshop the freckles!

The second one is better because the model is looking directly into the camera. You want more than a pretty picture, you want a picture in which the viewer plays a role. In the second one, it seems the viewer might be saying something interesting, and the model is listening carefully. Or perhaps viewer and model are communicating only with their eyes and their facial expressions, because they know each other so well.

Either way is more interesting than walking by someone who%26#039;s not looking at you.
Reply:None.....you have a beautiful face but the shots make you look like you are sick.

Use less exposure so the color of your eyes will stand out more.
Reply:Number 3 looks average and the angle doesn%26#039;t draw me in to the picture, its also a bit too satured with red. Number 1 is very nice, great angles, lovely side shot. Number 2 is my favorite, tho. Your eyes are gorgeous and give energy to the photo, drawing the viewer in, and the overall colors in the shot compliment each other well and look sharp. And of course, the cute little hair twist was a great touch! One tip tho, you might want to crop off just a tiny bit from the bottom of the photo, where your right arm is showing, unless you specifically want the photo to have a self-portrait feel. Other than that, very nicely done :)
Reply:None of these! First of all if you want a good picture of you...don%26#039;t take it yourself...and if you do put your camera on a timer. Second all of the pictures you have taken are all washed out....your exposer if off or you have changed the balance of the lighting too much...change is back!

If you delete pictures from a camera, is there any way they can still end up on the internet?

I think we all have taken bad pictures and such, but I was just wondering...

I know there are ways to recover this software but I was just thinking in terms of uploading pictures to my computer. Is there any way those deleted ones could get out there?
If you delete pictures from a camera, is there any way they can still end up on the internet?
Often %26quot;deleted%26quot; data isn%26#039;t completely deleted, it%26#039;s just marked that it can me written over. So until that data sector has been written over the info is still there. One needs to know how to access it though. This is kind of what %26quot;recovery%26quot; programs that try to regain deleted/lost try to do. It could also depend on the type of memory the device uses.
If you delete pictures from a camera, is there any way they can still end up on the internet?
Sure. Only the header information is deleted. The data from the file is still on the hard drive.

Do a defrag, that should write over most of it.
Reply:Unless you have NO protection on your computer, like a firewall, anti-virus, anti-phishing, anti-everything else, then there is no way anyone can get into your computer and just take what they want.

I have at least three firewall on my computer ... one at the broadband router, my secured WiFi router and finally the one on my computer. I have a special program running that scans all my email for nasties before it gets to my email program as well.

That said, after you make sure your computer is secure, use the computer to delete images you don%26#039;t like ... there are two compelling reasons for this. First, when you view your images using your much larger computer screen, you will better be able to decide which images you want to trash and second, deleting individual images off the card can eventually cause your memory card to become corrupted and then you will lose all the images you have on the card.

Best practice is to format the memory card after you have copied all your pictures over to your computer ... formating refreshes the card and writes new file folders and a new image index file.

DeviantArt questions??

-Do you have to be a good computer artist?

-Are any tryouts required?

- Do you have to be a certain age?

Please tell me!!
DeviantArt questions??
No, no (you don%26#039;t even have to be a good artist..), no, I%26#039;m not sure about the age but I had one when I was under 18.

It%26#039;s kind of like a myspace for the art world.
DeviantArt questions??
Membership is free, you don%26#039;t have to be a good artist, trust me. No tryouts, as for the age thing, I doubt it matters how old you are, but if it says you are not old enough, sign up again and change the year you were born until you are %26quot;old enough%26quot; to join.
Reply:No cost for membership, although you can choose to purchase a membership this just gets rid of adds and stuff.

You dont have to be a good computer artist because dA is for all different types of art, traditional, printing, body art, fractual art, the list goes on forever.

There is no tryout.

There is no age limit for dA although on some art that is classed as mature there is a filter type thing.

Art question?

Here%26#039;s a good, solid, standard photograph that could represent courage.

The Migrant Mother by Dorthea Lange.

It was taken during the Great Depression of a woman in the dust bowl area looking for a better life. This could represent courage because she is courageous enough to continue on with her children to find a better future.

Changing F-Stop?

I have a Canon SD750 and was wondering if there was any way to manually change the f-stop. I%26#039;ve seen it anywhere from 2.8 to 11, but it changes automatically and I want to be able to change it myself. Is that possible with a point and shoot camera?
Changing F-Stop?
I%26#039;m not sure on that particular model, but only if it has a manual f-stop dial or buttons.

I looked it up on line and it doesn%26#039;t mention any manual features, but almost all cameras allow you to manually set the f-stop. Go to the menu and search the camera functions.
Changing F-Stop?
Generally, on a point n shoot I would have to say %26quot;no%26quot;. However, read your instruction manual and see if the %26quot;auto%26quot; functions might help you out!

Good luck
Reply:Sounds like your outgrowing your %26#039;point and shoot%26#039;, according to the reviews you can%26#039;t control aperture.

Chris
Reply:Reviews say no. if you get a new camera look for one with a dial consisting of A aperature priority allows you to change Aperature (f stop) P being program and it does it it self S shutter priority and M being fully manual
Reply:The correct answer is no, but it is possible. This camera is strictly a point and shoot camera with no manual controls. Even though it has a mode called Manual, it isn%26#039;t a true manual in the sense that it lets you adjust the aperture and/or shutter speed.

Here%26#039;s how it is possible...

For the slightly more adventurous, there is a firmware hack called CHDK that you can load onto your memory card that will turn your P%26amp;S camera into a surprisingly powerful little camera. What is really nice about it, is that it doesn%26#039;t actually overwrite your firmware. You don%26#039;t have to worry about messing up the camera or voiding the warranty. It is unloaded when you turn the camera off.

A word of warning... It is pretty complicated to use. Because there are so many features, the menus can get pretty complicated. Not only does it add capabilities like full manual control, it adds the ability to shoot in RAW. You%26#039;ll need to take some time to set it up and learn how to use it.

Reply:You might want to look into an advanced point and shoot, like the Canon G9.

My grandparents 50th aniversery??!!? (help please)?

my grandparents 50th aniversery is coming up soon, and us grandkids and kids are throwing them a huge surprise party. one of the things we%26#039;re giving them, is a scrap book with memories from all of us, and their friends. i have to make my own page, and i was wondering what exactly to do. i want to make it really special, and i know that i should include memories ive shared with them, and maybe some pictures, but what else? maybe a poem? idk!! and how exactly should i layout and design the page? im not too experienced with scrap booking. answer please! it would be a lot of help!! :)
My grandparents 50th aniversery??!!? (help please)?
Just do it with your heart and the love you feel for them in mind and it will be perfect.

Think of them rather than the outcome of your finished page.

Start going through old photos and you%26#039;re sure to have some emotional memories triggered!

Heh...
Hey you! Can u help me get it noticed my drawings discovered??bcuz iLuv 2 get paid 4 drawing;]*Cheese*?
First of all, if you are going to embark on any professional endeavor, you need to work on your grammar. If you want to become a serious artist that can actually sell your work, you need to sound intelligent.

Secondly, if you do try to sell your drawings, please use quality paper (from an art supply store...not office copier paper).

Third, do you have a link to your drawings? I can%26#039;t tell you what I think unless I can see them.

Lastly, your mother will be your most lenient critic. Though her words may be kind, they%26#039;re not always accurate.
Reply:First off you need to work on pure grammar. Then you need to save up somewhere around 1,000 dollars. Take classes to learn new techniques so that your stuff doesn%26#039;t look the same, learn how to draw different subjects to start. When you have around 60 drawings that you are very confident in that look complete, mount them or frame them, after making fine art prints of them. Try selling them on eBay, or have your guardian register you for art festivals around your area, you can set up a tent there with a sign to advertise and people will walk by and occasionally walk in a take a peek at your art, maybe offering to buy some of it.

A great idea as well would be to buy a space in your local newspaper, somewhere inexpensive but not totally hidden. And thats the point of the 1,000 dollars.

Does anyone have any great tips on taking amazing portrait photos?

Yes!!!

get a professional photographer = ] then u should get amazing portrait = ]
Does anyone have any great tips on taking amazing portrait photos?
Look through magazines and find pictures to give you ideas. Do different angles
Does anyone have any great tips on taking amazing portrait photos?
take your camera out of AUTO mode and learn about exposure, apature, speed and focus
Reply:i would do a white background or black... taking pictures in black and white are so beautiful... having the plain background takes the focus off the scenery and on to you.
Reply:Try anything. Thern let the person pick the best.
Reply:I think you mean that you are getting your pic taken not really sure though... but if you are keep your eyes open (don%26#039;t squint) do that by blinking right before they take the pic. wear your hair down... not much makeup and what you wear make it natural looking. also chin up and sit up straight as well... and don%26#039;t forget to let your personality shine through you beautiful smile!! :)
Reply:One good effect is to have the sun behind your model, then use a flash. It creates a kinda halo around them.
Reply:Make %26#039;em smile!

Then you need an aperture which will isolate the background.

The focal length will determine how close you need to get.

The lens need not be too sharp, or you will have to spend time smoothing out blemishes in photoshop or whatever you use.
Reply:I%26#039;ve always read that standing slightly sideways makes you look thinner, that you shouldn%26#039;t wear too much makeup, and wear clothes without patterns (think solid colors) and wear something classic, like a sheath dress or a nice top and jeans. I%26#039;ve also read that you should stand up straight and laugh or say %26quot;Hi%26quot; when you smile because that makes it look more natural. You can google it to find out more.
Reply:Shallow depth of field so you can focus on the person only and edit out distractions in the background. You can do this by changing the aperture settings.

If you%26#039;re taking pictures of adults you%26#039;ll want a longer lens. Because they%26#039;ll feel more comfortable if you%26#039;re not right up in there face. If it%26#039;s of children then get a normal lens because you%26#039;ll need to interact with them more to get that perfect shot.

Have good lighting and make sure your white balance is set right.

Also, have he ISO set no higher than 400 cause the pictures will start to accumulate too much noise.
Reply:I%26#039;m assuming you%26#039;re using an SLR, but what you do is keep the background blurred, unless it%26#039;s interesting %26amp; compliments the subject somehow. In otherwords keep the f-stop as low as possible. take the time to look at the person, find their %26quot;good side%26quot; and make them look in a flattering direction. The way their chin is shaped will determine how you want them to hold their head up. For instance, if someone %26quot;lacks a chin%26quot;, don%26#039;t make them look down without making them stick their head forward like a chicken. look in your camera%26#039;s manual or in the menu, and find a color setting that allows for warmer skin tones. This way, they can always be de-saturated on the computer, but its harder to put color back in.
Reply:I take some under my garage. i made a home-made background with some RIT dye that was supposed to be tie-dye but it screwed up so i just splattered bleach on it.. I make them turn a little bit away look at me and straighen their back. then sometimes depending on your lighting flash is better than the light but being outside i get natural light. then heres the outcome

the second ones me.. but its really old
Reply:There are so many things involved in taking an %26quot;amazing portrait%26quot;! Here are just a few things to remember..

Don%26#039;t shoot into the sun! Especially don%26#039;t have the sun right behind you wile taking the photo. Your model/subjects eyes will be all squinty! Don%26#039;t shoot at 12:00. It%26#039;s the perfect time for awful shadows. I usually shoot at 10 am or 5:00 pm. Plenty of light and no awful shadows.

Don%26#039;t use a wide angle lens. Staying within 50-100 is my personal rule when I%26#039;m shooting a portrait. Past 50 will start to distort their face a little, and they also feel uncomfortable with you so close to them with the camera.

Fill the frame with your subject only! Don%26#039;t leave any unnecessary space in the photo. Also don%26#039;t cut anything off, like the top of their head or part of an arm. Look around the subject and make sure nothing weird is hanging out in the picture, like a stick coming out of their head!

Keep a shallow depth of field, so that all the focus is on the subject.

Make them feel comfortable. Talk to them, and keep the subject light and funny! It%26#039;s PERFECT when you capture that genuine smile!
Reply:Well Just Try To Take the photo not against the light so it won%26#039;t be real light cuz then you won%26#039;t be able to see the persons face really well so try to stand next or behind the window (if any) or light and just try to take the picture from the persons best side...

Hope that helps

Where is the best place to buy a camera?

I have been looking at many dslr%26#039;s and have decided on purchasing the Canon 30D. I want to know what would be the best place to buy this camera. My mom is also in fact a teacher so if there is any place that gives a educators discount. Thanks in advance!
Where is the best place to buy a camera?
Have you checked Sam%26#039;s Club or Costco? They usually have a pretty good price on cameras. I don%26#039;t think they give educator%26#039;s discounts because they already give one. Does Canon have a website? I purchased a refurbished Kodak on kodak.com and got a great deal, $265 camera for $214 with a printer.
Where is the best place to buy a camera?
Buy it from a local %26quot;real%26quot; camera store - not a chain store, not on line.

Why? Because these stores employ people who actually know something - usually a lot! - about cameras and photo skills ... and will share their knowledge with you when you buy from them.

You may pay a few buck more. But the true value of buying from professionals is worth it.
Reply:I see that the eBay store below has several, as well as accessories for them.

PAINTING/ARTWORK i have a picture called "the rumour". painted in 1935 by Johann moesman.....?

Polaroid 600 film effects?

So I got a Polaroid One600 Classis for graduating and I%26#039;m stoked.

But I was wondering if there%26#039;s anything you can do with the pictures besides take em. I know you can%26#039;t do emulsion lifts or transfers and you can%26#039;t solarize it or anything. But are there other things you can do to play with 600 film?

I%26#039;ve heard of scratching the emulsion to morph the picture and stuff but I was hoping for some more ideas.

Like I heard of one guy cutting off the developer pocket after its developed to make the colors bleed or something......

Are there any online groups on flickr or anything that do stuff like this?
Polaroid 600 film effects?
You can press on the fil before the picture to make ghosts effects
Polaroid 600 film effects?
It is better if you work with what you have. You can use a color copier to blow them up and double print or play with the color. You can use a color copier at Kinko%26#039;s to add a real apple to a picture of a potato tree.
Reply:You could also add a picture of an apple to a real potato tree. :)

How to remove pc, to see # of pictures taken, keeps saying there are no pics in camera?

Camera seems to take pictures but computer says there are no pictures in camera. On display before anything it shows PC, video mode, never shows # of picture being taken. Manual says nothing about that PC.
How to remove pc, to see # of pictures taken, keeps saying there are no pics in camera?
your question is rather cryptic. Please give steps to connecting camera to computer, operating system and any programs you are using. What you see or what you DON%26#039;T see that you should. Be specific.

How long have you owned the camera? Have you downloaded pictures before today with this camera?
How to remove pc, to see # of pictures taken, keeps saying there are no pics in camera?
not clear, you have camera, so number of images should be listed on camera, without connecting to pc, once you connect to pc via usb, the program would then scan for images listing how many and then ask how to transfer, if you want to connect to computer with use of camera program , you can view camera disk as new port %26quot;drive E:\ %26quot; or other with list of files, also note that files with sd disk will be listed, not internal memory, to do so remove disk then connect,

What is the biggest landscape print you have had made, 20x30 etc? What kind of camera do you use for landscape

Believe it or not, it was 40 x 14 feet! A billboard.

I won a competition sponsored by an outdoor advertising co. back in 1992 or 93 ... when they had just gotten the digital technology to be able to produce true photographic quality on a billboard.

My original shot was made on Velvia, with a Pentax K 1000 and a 50mm lens.

Recently? A 30x40 printed on an Epson 9600. Shot with a Nikon D100 (6.1 MP) and a Nikkor 28-105.
What is the biggest landscape print you have had made, 20x30 etc? What kind of camera do you use for landscape
I have made 102%26quot; x 48%26quot;

Actually, you can print longer than that but you will pay the price.

Use a wide angle lens for landscaping or a fish eye to give a certain effect to it.

I use many cameras but the Nikon D3 is pretty good.
What is the biggest landscape print you have had made, 20x30 etc? What kind of camera do you use for landscape
I do a 20x30 about once every other month, but that%26#039;s about the biggest I%26#039;ve ever needed to or dared.

Generally, for prints that size, I use my Rolleiflex and either Velvia 50 or Provia 100F. I then scan the film at 4800x4800, and print it digitally.

I once had a real honest-to-goodness optical Cibachrome, which was truly amazing but also expensive. A well-done digital print on Fuji Crystal Archive or the like is about 90% as good for a fraction of the cost, so that%26#039;s generally the route I take.
